Crime

Crime is an action that will trigger hostility from the Palpagos Island Defense Force. The game will display the "Criminal Activity Underway" warning whenever illegal actions are being committed.

Mechanics

In order for a player to be charged with a crime, they must perform an illegal action that is witnessed by a non-enemy NPC (such as islanders or PIDF officers). If the act is not witnessed (for example, if a player successfully kills or captures an NPC before they can see the player attacking them, or if no PIDF officers see a player entering a Wildlife Sanctuary), no charges are gained.

While a player is charged with a crime, PIDF officers will constantly spawn to attack them. If the player moves far enough away from pursuing officers, they will despawn and a new set will be spawned next to them. The levels and quantity of the officers depends on the severity of the crime(s) and number of charges.

PIDF enemies spawned when you've broken the law provide less XP than they should at their level, therefore it is not advised to break the law for the sake of level-grinding.

Assault

Attacking any non-hostile NPC will warrant an Assault charge. This includes attempting to capture humans in a Pal Sphere.

A player's Pals dealing damage to non-hostile NPCs does not constitute assault.

Trespassing

Visiting one of the Wildlife Sanctuaries will warrant a level 1 Trespassing charge.

Poaching

Capturing Pals on any of the Wildlife Sanctuaries will warrant a level 1 Poaching charge.

Removing Charges

To remove a charge, the player can:

  • Die and respawn.
    • In multiplayer sessions, being downed is sufficient to remove charges.
  • Lose sight of the PIDF and wait for the charge to disappear.
  • In a single player world; save, exit and log back in.

There may be more ways to remove charges in a future update, however nothing has been confirmed yet.
