Fishing Fishing is an activity introduced in version 0.6.0. It is used for catching Pals and obtaining Items through Salvage Spots.

In order to start fishing, players must have a Fishing Rod and any type of Bait.

Rods

Fishing Rods determine the size of the Bar in the Fishing Minigame. The higher the modifier is the broader your bar is, making it easier to catch Pals. They also benefit from in some cases drastically improved durability.

Fishing Rod Bar Size Modifier Durability
Beginner Fishing Rod (Chillet) Beginner Fishing Rod (Chillet) x1 120
Beginner Fishing Rod (Gumoss) Beginner Fishing Rod (Gumoss) x1.1 180
Intermediate Fishing Rod (Cattiva) Intermediate Fishing Rod (Cattiva) x1.3 240
Intermediate Fishing Rod (Croajiro) Intermediate Fishing Rod (Croajiro) x1.4 360
Advanced Fishing Rod (Pengullet) Advanced Fishing Rod (Pengullet) x1.8 480
Advanced Fishing Rod (Depresso) Advanced Fishing Rod (Depresso) x1.9 720

Baits

In addition to upgradeable Fishing Rods the Players can also use several baits that will improve the rate at which Pals bite.

Bait Effect
Simple Bait Simple Bait Required for Fishing but offers no bonus.
High Quality Bait High Quality Bait Improves the rate at which Pals bite.
Deluxe Bait Deluxe Bait Increases the size of the bar in the Fishing Minigame.
Alluring Bait Alluring Bait Increases the size of the bar in the Fishing Minigame and
increases the chance of receiving drops from caught Pals.

Fish Shadows in the Water

To begin the fishing minigame, Players must have any Fishing Rod and Bait equipped, then find a fishing spot.

Pal Shadows

  • Purple sparkles indicate an Alpha Alpha Pal.
  • Green sparkles indicate a Pal with a diamond quality (tier 4) Passive Skill, such as Demon God.
  • A purple pillar of light, similar to the ones wild Lucky Pals Lucky Pals have, indicates a Lunker Pal.
    • Even if the Lunker has another diamond quality (tier 4) Passive Skill, the effect is the same.

Minigame

Once at a fishing spot, aim at Fish Shadows and then Cast it into the water. After a little bit of waiting you will see two big yellow exclamation marks, using your rod again will now initiate the Pal Fishing Minigame. Your goal is to keep the green bar behind the fish icon at all times, slowly filling the small circle above the bar. The bar can be moved by pressing / holding Leftclick or Right Trigger. The minigame will fail if the circle empties completely, filling it will finish the minigame and award you with the Pal you saw in the water. The shadows will give you a hint at what kind of Pal you are trying to catch, some are relatively simple to identify based on this. There are different types of Fishing Spots the Player can encounter with some posing more of a challenge especially with the Beginner Fishing Rod. The Salvage Minigame is easier and only requires hitting the displayed button when the yellow bar is anywhere above the green area in the Circle. Make sure you are riding a Water Water Element Pal or you can not initiate Salvaging.

Main article: Fishing/Spots

Fishing Spots can be found around most water bodies.

There are several types of Fishing Spots, with diffuculty ranging from Beginner to Advanced and levels usually following the zone's level range. Sometimes Advanced spots are marked as Master with more rare fish.

When you view a Pal's habitat in Palpedia, fishing spots that contain the Pal are also displayed.

Note: Freshwater Pals are marked with (F), saltwater Pals are marked with (S). Unmarked Pals spawn both in fresh and saltwater.

Pals using Handiwork are able to "work" at a Fishing Pond. This can award several Pals giving the Player the corresponding capture bonus experience when fished up in this manner. Fishing Ponds also reward several items that may typically be hard to gain using other methods as well as giving a chance to receive Alpha Pals at random. The Fishing Pond tier and location commands the Item rewards you can expect. The Large Fishing Pond can yield higher tier items and Pals in any location by allowing you to fish for Big Shadows.
