Base Raids are a challenging and exciting aspect of Palworld. They are random events where player bases are invaded by Pals and/or other Factions. They add a layer of risk and reward to your gameplay, forcing you to consider your base's location, defenses and the capabilities of your Pal companions.

FaQs

What are they? Base raids are events where groups of Humans or hostile Pals, known as raiders, who attacks your base. Their goal is to damage your structures and potentially defeat you and your Pals.

When do they happen? Raids can occur at any time but it usually triggers when you are at your own Base.

When do they stop? Raids will end when one of the following conditions are met:

  • All of the raiders are taken out.
  • All of the pals at your base are taken out.
  • The raiders retreat and despawn. This happens if the raid goes on for too long.

Do raids go on forever? No. Unlike in a lot of other games, Raiders will not simply fight to the last man standing. Raiders will turn tail and retreat (and once far enough away, despawn) once one of the following conditions are met:

  • less than half to a quarter (Exact number needs confirmation) their starting number remain.
  • A few minutes (Exact number needs confirmation) have passed. Once this timer is up, they will retreat regardless of the current status of the raid.

What are the conditions for a raid? A base must be considered 'raidable' by the AI. Beyond certain unknown conditions to determine type (as of yet unknown,) a base is 'raidable' only if it can reach the base on foot. Bases that are placed on top of mountains or pleateus surrounded by cliff faces on all sides will never get raided because the AI calculates that it cannot reach this base.

This isn't perfect, however. Some bases can trigger raids yet still be 'unraidable' as the pathway to your base can force them to waste time traversing to your base causes them to time out before they ever reach the base.

Who are the raiders? The composition of the raiders varies depending on your location and progression in the game. Early on, you might face weak land-based Pals. Later, you'll encounter stronger and more diverse enemies, including flying Pals.

You can disable Base Raiding in the World Settings in single player or dedicated servers.

Additional Tips

  • Raids can be a good source of resources. Defeated raiders often drop items like Pal Spheres, Treasure Keys, Ammos and various other things which you can use for crafting and other purposes.
  • You can also capture raiders and add them to your Pal collection. However, be aware that they might be difficult to tame due to their hostile nature.
  • Walls are an excellent way of deterring raids. Even basic stone walls have very high defense, making just about every attack against them do only 1 damage. Furthermore, enemies will attempt to melee their way through obstacles instead of using attacks, further reducing their chances for a breech. A good wall can hold off even a high level raid.
