Crouching is a mechanic in that lets players crouch.

At low speeds, activating crouching will cause the player to crouch. At higher speeds or on a slope, the player will start to slide.

Crouching

When crouched, the player moves at a slower speed. Since the player is lower to the ground, it can be used to dodge attacks from enemies.

To stop crouching, the player can roll, jump, or mount a pal. Using a grappling gun will not cause the player to stop crouching.

Sliding

When sliding, the player moves in a straight line until they lose enough velocity or the sliding is interrupted. If the player is going down a slope, they will accelerate. You can still slide uphill after sprinting, but will quickly lose momentum and stop sliding. If the player stops sliding due to low momentum, they will end up in a crouched position.

The player can interrupt sliding by rolling or jumping. Jumping will allow the player to keep their momentum. This can be used to glide at high velocities. After rolling or jumping, the player won't be crouched and instead can continue walking.

While sliding, the player can still throw Pal Spheres and use weapons.
