Random Spawns
Random Spawns occur all across the Palpagos Islands. These spawns may range from Pals, to hostile enemy Factions, as well as friendly humans, including merchants.
Wild Pals
Pals may randomly spawn in their designated Habitats, as seen through the ingame Paldeck. Each Pal has its own weighted distribution, making some Pals rarer than others, such as Dinossom (3%) being far less common than Cattiva (40%).
Lucky Pals are variants of Pals with unique traits. These are known to spawn wherever their species' natural Habitat is.
Incidents
Certain points across the overworld are hotspots for rare Incidents, a hidden mechanic that spawns specific entities, or groups of entities, at a very low chance. These can be enemy ambushes, merchants, or even opportunities to capture rare Pals, including some that do not have a listed Habitat on the Paldeck.
When an Incident occurs, it is chosen from a potential pool of encounters that is specific to that general region - for example, one can never find a naturally-spawning Jolthog Cryst Incident outside of Windswept Hills.
Randomly-spawning Item Merchants encountered in a region can sell the same set of items across multiple different encounters, such as the same three Skill Fruits and medicines.
It is not known if a Pal that appears via an Incident can be a Lucky.
Types of Incidents
The game's code categorizes several different types of Incidents, though they all may appear in the same hotspots.
- Pal Incidents, which often have a specific group of different Pals appearing simultaneously, but can simply be solo Pals.
- Some of these Incidents are mundane, such as a solo Dinossom, or two Caprity walking alongside each other, which occurs in their natural habitat.
- Other Incidents involve combat, such as two Mammorest fighting each other.
- Human Incidents, which includes travelling merchants and hostile Factions.
- Outbreak Incidents, where a large group of Pals may spawn all at once.
- Swarms may include Pal species not native to the region, such as Mossanda Lux in the Desiccated Desert.
- Not all outbreaks are of equal size. An outbreak of Mammorest may come in a group of 5, whereas an outbreak of Pengullet may come in a group of 9.

The Grass Regions are home to plentiful low-level encounters.

- Sometimes, they are being accosted by the Syndicate.
- Sometimes, they have armed guards that are allied to them. They are friendly to the player.
- A group of armed mercenaries. They are friendly to the player.
- Sometimes, they are defending themselves from the Syndicate.
- A Syndicate ambush, in which they have their own tamed Pals attacking alongside them. These Pals may be captured like any other.
