Cattiva (Japanese: ツッパニャン Tsuppanyan) is a Neutral icon.png  Neutral element Pal.

Appearance

Cattiva is a small bipedal cat-like Pal. Its body is predominately pink, with tufts on its cheeks and forehead, and has bright blue eyes.

It has four thick whiskers on its face with two on each side. Cattiva has a tail that is short and curly in appearance. The ears of Cattiva are triangular and inside of its ears are black. Cattiva has an underbelly that is cream. Cattiva often strikes a confident pose while holding its paws on its sides when idle. When its mouth is open, two fangs can be seen inside Cattiva's mouth.

Behavior and habitat

Cattiva are skittish; they will run away from the player until they are backed into a corner and run out of stamina. They will then taunt the player to hit them. Once they begin to taunt, it is easy to stun lock them into an easy capture or knockout.

While working at the player's base this Pal tends to slack off a lot, take breaks frequently, and sometimes when angry will even go to bed in the middle of the day.

Utility

Cattiva's Partner Skill, Cat Helper, provides 50 additional Weight capacity while in the party, increasing by 10 for each Partner Skill Level gained. This stacks with additional Cattiva in the party.

Cattiva serves as an early-game all-rounder at a player's base, handling Mining, Handiwork, Gathering, and Transporting. They require relatively little food, which makes them highly economic for the utility that they bring.

In combat, however, Cattiva is lackluster as all of them have the "Coward" passive, which reduces their Attack by 10%. This makes them a poor choice as a combat partner or base defender.

In spite of that, Cattiva brings additional utility to the player's party outside of combat, especially in the early-game. Cattiva's Partner Skill, Cat Helper, provides a boost to the player's Weight capacity, increasing the amount of items the player can carry. Although this Partner Skill is outshone by other Pals like Broncherry and Kingpaca once they become available, having a full team of Cattiva is still a large boost to convenience when carrying many items early on.

  • Ribbuny's Paldeck entry mentions how Cattiva will tie its tentacles into knots.
  • Cattiva has an extremely high chance to spawn with the coward passive skill.
  • "Cattiva" may come from "cat" and the Italian word "cattiva," meaning bad.
  • Its Japanese name may partially come from 突っ張り tsuppari, this term and its relatives can mean multiple things like a slapping attack (in the context of sumo wrestling) similar to Cattiva's Punch Flurry and also being generally defiant or unruly, which might be a reference to Cattiva's tendency to taunt and act tough. Additionally, its Japanese name likely combines the aforementioned concepts with にゃん nyan (onomatopoeia for the cry of a cat).
