Cattiva (Japanese: ツッパニャン Tsuppanyan) is a element Pal.
-Characteristics
Appearance
Cattiva is a small, bipedal cat-like Pal with a predominately pinkish body. It has tufts on its cheeks and forehead and a cream-colored belly. Cattiva strikes a confident pose while holding its paws on its sides when idle.
Behavior and Habitat
Cattiva has a skittish temperament and will run away from a player until they are backed into a corner and run out of stamina. It will then taunt the player to hit them. Once they begin to taunt, it is easy to stun lock them into an easy capture or knockout.
Cattiva is commonly found in low-level areas like the Windswept Hills, Sea Breeze Archipelago, and Forgotten Island. It usually either spawns alone or in a pair.
Utility
Cattiva makes for a great early-game all-rounder for base work, handling Mining, Handiwork, Gathering, and Transporting. They also require relatively little food, making them highly economic for the utility that they bring.
In combat, however, Cattiva is rather lackluster as all of them have the "Coward" passive skill, which reduces their Attack by 10%. This makes them a somewhat poor choice as a combat partner or base defender. However, their Cat Helper Partner Skill boosts a player's Weight capacity while in the party, making them invaluable to early players while harvesting resources.
Trivia
- Ribbuny's Palpedia entry mentions how Cattiva will tie its tentacles into knots.
- Cattiva has an extremely high chance to spawn with the "Coward" passive skill.
- “Cattiva” might come from “cat” and the Italian word “cattiva,” meaning “bad.”
- Cattiva's Japanese name might partly come from 突っ張り (tsuppari), which can mean a slapping attack in sumo wrestling, similar to Cattiva’s Punch Flurry, and also being defiant or unruly, reflecting Cattiva’s taunting and acting tough behavior. Additionally, it likely incorporates にゃん (nyan), the onomatopoeia for a cat’s cry.
- Cattiva is #008 in Paldeck on PocketPair X.
