Schematic
Schematics are items which, when held in the player's inventory, allow you to create the corresponding Item at the appropriate workstation. This can allow players to craft items that they have not unlocked, or even items of higher rarity than are normally available in the Technology tree.
Acquisition
Schematics can be found inside of dungeons, bought from the Wandering Merchant, drops from locked chests, or drops from bosses. Certain ones are dropped by specific bosses.
Dungeon Chest Loot
*Note: Grass Dungeon refers to Hillside Cavern, Isolated Island Cavern and Ravine Grotto.
Boss-specific Drops
This is an incomplete list of specific schematics and where to find them. It is not guaranteed that you will obtain Boss Schematics first try as they have 3% drop rate, you will likely need to grind these bosses.
Usage
With the appropriate Blueprint in the player's inventory, open the Crafting menu at the appropriate workstation. Assuming you’re at the correct work station, you will see a new item available for crafting. Select it to queue up the work.
Once the job is queued, you no longer need the Blueprint in your inventory (unless you intend to use it again). Blueprints cannot be used while in a chest on your Base; they must be in the player's inventory.
All Blueprints are reusable, and thus duplicate Blueprints of the same type are redundant. Blueprints are not consumed when crafting the corresponding item.
Item quality
Blueprints offer a way to craft more powerful items than can normally be obtained. They are indicated by a numbering system; for example, “Handgun 1” produces an Uncommon Handgun rather than a Common Handgun; these higher tier items are more powerful than the base variants (generally by up to 40-50%), but have much higher crafting costs and repair costs.
Blueprints with no number simply allow you to craft the basic quality of the item.
Blueprint-only Items
Some Blueprints cannot be unlocked from the Technology tree. In most cases, these are the same items you can unlock yourself with a higher quality, which is the only way to craft such items.
In less-common cases, these Blueprints are for unique items that normally can't be crafted at all, such as the Witch Hat Schematic 1. These items can only be crafted with the Blueprint, and can never be unlocked from your Technology tree. Blueprints like these can occasionally be purchased from a Wandering Merchant.
Legendary Blueprints
There are 25 Legendary blueprints available in the game. These are available as rare drops from Alpha Pals or as rewards from Chests.
Notes
- Schematics can be used to unlock items before the player normally is able to.
- An example of this is obtaining the Heat Resistant Pal Metal Armor Schematic 1 before having the required level to research the normal Heat Resistant Pal Metal Armor .
- A great place to farm Schematics is Icy Weasel Hill, due to the abundance of locked chests and high-level dungeons.
- In the west of the Icy Weasel Hill fast-travel point, there will nearly always be a level 45 dungeon, which can contain end-game Legendary Schematics.
